Standard heating lamps rarely fit into non-standard bending furnaces. When your machine footprint is cramped, you cannot simply “make it work” with off-the-shelf lengths. We build custom-shaped and custom-length infrared heaters specifically to solve these layout headaches in glass bead annealing lines.
Engineering for Tight Footprints
In an annealing furnace, heat distribution must be uniform to avoid internal stress in the glass. If your furnace geometry is irregular, a straight tube leaves cold spots. We bend and spec out the quartz tubes to match your actual chassis dimensions. You get heat exactly where the beads are, not in the empty air of the furnace walls.
Technical Trade-offs of Custom Geometry
Changing the length and shape of a lamp alters its electrical resistance. To maintain the required wattage for annealing, we adjust the filament density and voltage. If you request a high-wattage short-wave lamp in a tiny radius, the heat density spikes. You must ensure your furnace insulation is rated for this, or you will burn out the surrounding wiring.
Material and Integration
We use high-purity quartz to handle the thermal shock of rapid cycling. For these custom builds, we provide specific connector options to make wiring it up faster. Whether you need a standard R7s base or a specialized lead-wire configuration, the goal is a drop-in replacement that doesn’t require you to rebuild your entire electrical panel. Custom shapes allow you to pack more heating elements into the same cubic inch. This increases your throughput without expanding the machine’s physical size. Just keep in mind that tighter bends increase the fragility of the quartz; handle them with care during installation.
