
Warmth Without the Blinding Glare
When we design infrared heaters for bathrooms or gardens, we’re chasing a specific feeling: that instant, cozy warmth the second you flip the switch. But there’s a catch. You can’t have a light so bright it feels like a spotlight in your face—especially not in a nursery or a bathroom where a baby’s eyes are sensitive.
Getting the Light Right
Most standard short-wave lamps put out a harsh, white light. It’s the kind of glare that makes you squint and gives you a headache after a while. To fix this, we tweak the science. We use specific dopants in the quartz tubes and add special coatings to filter out that aggressive visible light. You still get all the heat—the infrared radiation—but the light itself settles into a soft, dim glow. We focus the energy on the 700nm to 1000nm range. It means the warmth sinks into your skin, but your retinas aren’t taking a beating.
Built for the Messy Stuff
Bathrooms and patios are tough on gear. Between the steam, the splashes, and the dust, a normal circuit would fry in a few days. That’s why we use IP65-rated housings. In plain English? It’s dust-tight and can handle water jets hitting it from any angle without breaking a sweat. Inside, we use halogen-filled quartz tubes. We chose quartz because it can expand and contract as it heats up without cracking. Plus, we reinforced the connectors. Nothing is worse than a loose wire causing a flicker just because the unit went through a few heat cycles.
The Trade-off
Here’s the honest part: filtering out that glare isn’t free. When you coat a tube to kill the brightness, you lose a little bit of raw efficiency. You’re looking at maybe a 5-10% drop in heat compared to a clear, naked tube. It’s a small price to pay for your eyesight, but you do have to plan for it. If you’re calculating the wattage for a room, just bump it up a bit to make sure you hit your target temperature. If you need even more heat but refuse to bring back the glare, your best bet is to just use longer tubes or add a few more lamps to the mix.
